I enjoy a variety of martial arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Around 2003 I competed in occasional NAGA Events (North American Grappling Association) as a newer student. In this beginning level competition, my buddy Pat and my instructor Maguilla are the voices cheering me on. My opponent was clearly more skilled and although I got the takedown, he quickly submitted me.
After I took him down, I got him in a half guard which left one of his knees on the outside of my leg. He used his strength to bar my arm against his knee. I stopped it a couple of times but on his third attempt he got me. The ref didn't see why I tapped out so I showed him as I was leaving.
On this next one, you may not want to sit there for over four minutes watching us grapple but I do have a good take down at about 3:22 if you want to fast forward.
I don't make him tap out but I still won by a point system. Points are given when you do things like take someone to the ground or knock them off of you if they're on top.
Martial arts are great fun to participate in. I would encourage everyone to try some form or another, sometime in your life.
